The effects of N-(4-aninobuty1)-5-chloro-2-naphthalenesulfonamide on chromosome aberration induced by X-ray

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of N-(4-aminobutyl)-5chloro-2-nap hthalenesulfonamide (W-13 : calmodulin antagonist) on chromosome aberrations induced by X-ray.
@ES The results were ass follows:
@EN 1) The frequency of chromosome aberrations increased in proportion with X-irradiation and the aberration types were mainly dicentric, break and exchange.
2) chromosome aberration frequency of the group treated only with W-13 resulted in similarityto that of control group regardless of treatment concentration and times.
3) Regardless of the treatment times after X-irradiation, chromosome aberration frequency of W-13 treated groups were lower at the concentration of over 5¥ìM than those of non treated group
In the light of the above results, we can suggest that W-14 itself does not give a rise to chromosome aberration, but is concerned to chromosome aberrations induced by X-ray : that is, it has the ability to inhibit chromosome aberrations.
